AirAsia Philippines announced on Tuesday its support for the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) in its ongoing effort to improve passenger experience at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the busy holiday season approaches.
As a key industry partner of NNIC, the airline committed to enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and passenger convenience across all customer touchpoints. With the holiday rush fast approaching, AirAsia said it is already taking proactive steps to ensure smooth operations for travelers.
AirAsia’s CEO, Ricky Isla, emphasized the airline’s dedication to operational excellence, sayng, “As an airline that is guest-obsessed, we stand with NNIC and San Miguel Group chairman Ramon Ang in realizing a shared vision of providing an enhanced guest experience at NAIA. We assure our stakeholders that all check-in counters will be fully manned to support the busy period. Through our partnership with NNIC, we will also identify and address potential customer chokepoints to continuously improve our processes.”
The airline has already begun preparing for what is expected to be a surge in travel demand, with AirAsia reporting that more than half a million seats have been sold for flights between 1 December 2024 and 31 January 2025. Isla noted an early increase in passenger traffic based on booking trends, with further growth expected as the holidays draw closer.
In addition to optimizing airport operations, AirAsia is focused on ensuring on-time performance and timely baggage handling. The airline has also pledged to provide sufficient manpower at check-in counters to manage the anticipated surge in passengers.
“We’re seeing early signs of a holiday rush, and we’re prepared. Our guests can expect a seamless experience at the airport and on board,” Isla added. “Safety is paramount, and our engineers and technicians are ensuring that our aircraft are serviced to the highest standards during this peak travel period.”
To help travelers plan ahead, AirAsia is encouraging customers to secure affordable flights via the AirAsia MOVE app. The airline serves 12 domestic destinations and 13 international routes as of April 2024.
