URC inaugurates P5.4B Sariaya flour facility

Universal Robina Corp., the food manufacturing arm of the Gokongwei Group, has inaugurated its P5.4-billion state-of-the-art flour milling plant in Sariaya, Quezon.

Slated to start operations in January, the flour milling facility underscores the Gokongwei Group’s commitment to improving food security and supporting the Philippine agricultural sector.

In his speech during the inauguration ceremonies attended by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., URC chairman Lance Gokongwei said the investment is a strong endorsement of the vibrant economy and the conducive business environment fostered by the government.

“This investment is a concrete manifestation of our unwavering support for improving food security in the Philippines,” Gokongwei said.

The new milling facility, with an annual production capacity of 297,000 metric tons of flour and 99,000 metric tons of bran and pollard, is expected to play a key role in ensuring a stable and affordable food supply in the country. Featuring fully automated milling technology, the plant will streamline flour production, storage, and packaging processes, contributing to more efficient operations.

The plant will directly employ 102 workers, providing a boost to the local economy in Sariaya. Gokongwei assured the government of URC’s ongoing commitment to being a responsible leader in the agricultural industry, helping to shape a more sustainable and food-secure future for the Philippines.
