EEI Power, MMC partner on solar healthcare project

EEI Power Corp., the energy arm of construction giant EEI Corp., has signed a contract with Mindoro Medical Center-Calapan, Inc. (MMC) for the installation of a 605kWp solar photovoltaic rooftop system. The partnership marks a key step in the hospital’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact while enhancing its energy efficiency.

The solar installation will significantly decrease MMC’s reliance on traditional power sources, helping the hospital save on electricity costs over time. These savings are expected to be reinvested into facility improvements and enhanced patient care.

During the signing ceremony in Calapan City, the parties highlighted the broader impact of the project in advancing sustainable energy solutions within the healthcare sector. Dr. Arthur Rico R. Villafuerte, president of MMC, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the hospital’s commitment to both delivering excellent healthcare and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Robert Marlon T. Pereja, vice president and general manager of EEI Power, echoed the importance of the collaboration, noting that the company’s mission to provide sustainable solutions reflects its broader goals of promoting community welfare and supporting green energy initiatives.

The project underscores the growing role of renewable energy in healthcare facilities, helping drive a more sustainable future for the sector.

Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed.
