Aboitiz Power Corp. renewable energy arm Aboitiz Renewables Inc. (ARI) has successfully energized its largest solar facility to date—the 173-megawatt Calatrava solar project in Negros Occidental. This addition marks a significant milestone in the company’s expanding renewable energy portfolio.
ARI president Jimmy Villaroman said the Calatrava project, now the largest in their solar generation portfolio, will contribute to a cleaner energy mix while creating green jobs for the local community. He also expressed gratitude to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines for its collaboration in energizing the facility through the Calatrava substation.
This achievement follows Aboitiz Power’s steady 2024 progress, with a total of 512 MW from various projects energized this year, including solar plants in Laoag, Pangasinan, and Tarlac, as well as geothermal and energy storage facilities.
Aboitiz Power targets to expand its renewable energy capacity to 4,600 MW by 2030 as part of a broader goal to generate 9,200 MW by that time. The company has earmarked P73 billion in capital expenditures for 2024 alone, more than doubling last year’s investment.
With this continued focus on sustainable energy, Aboitiz Power is positioning itself as a leader in the country’s clean energy transition.
