    GSIS honors LGUs, agencies for protecting public assets

    The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has honored 24 local government units (LGUs) and two national agencies during the second Seal of Protection Awards on November 28, 2024, at its Pasay City headquarters. The awards recognize outstanding efforts to protect public assets through insurance coverage, in line with the Property Insurance Law (Republic Act No. 656).

    GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso lauded the winners for their commitment to safeguarding government resources, ensuring uninterrupted public service. Gold Awards were given to the cities of Iloilo, Makati, Pasig, and Valenzuela, while Silver Awards went to LGUs including Aurora, Davao de Oro, and Navotas. Bronze Awards were presented to 13 other LGUs, including Caloocan, Malabon, and Taguig.

    Special awards were given to the Bureau of the Treasury for its leadership in the National Indemnity Insurance Program and the Department of Education Provident Fund for providing personal accident insurance to staff. Veloso emphasized the importance of continued insurance coverage to protect public assets and help the government meet its goals.
