EastWest partners with GCash to expand access to personal loans

EastWest Banking Corp., the Gotianun-led universal lender, has announced a strategic partnership with fintech giant G-Xchange Inc., operator of the widely-used mobile wallet GCash. The collaboration enables EastWest to offer bank loans directly through the GCash app, providing users with seamless access to personalized lending products.

With this integration, GCash users can easily discover and apply for EastWest’s personal loans via targeted advertisements on the app. This move marks a significant step towards making financial services more accessible to the wider Filipino population.

“We are excited to partner with GCash to bring accessible and user-friendly financial solutions to a broader segment of the Filipino population,” Jerry G. Ngo, CEO of EastWest Bank, said in a statement. “This collaboration aligns with our commitment to providing an ‘EasyWay to Bank,’ ensuring that our customers have seamless, reliable access to essential resources backed by our expertise and service dedication, whether through innovation or face-to-face support.”

The partnership is expected to expand beyond just loan offerings. According to EastWest, additional financial products will be rolled out on the GCash platform in the future, further enhancing the digital financial landscape in the Philippines.

Tony Isidro, CEO of Fuse Lending Inc.—GCash’s official lending arm—expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “Through this collaboration, more Filipinos can now access EastWest’s tailored products directly on the GCash app. This is in line with our shared mission to further promote financial inclusion in the Philippines,” Isidro said.

Fuse Lending, which operates as the digital lending arm of GCash, provides simple, affordable, and secure loans to Filipinos, with a focus on empowering individuals and small businesses to achieve financial security and growth.

The integration of EastWest’s lending products into the GCash app further underscores the growing trend of digital banking partnerships in the Philippines, aimed at driving financial inclusion and ensuring greater access to essential financial services.
