San Miguel Corporation (SMC), through its infrastructure arm, will once again waive toll fees at its expressways this holiday season, continuing a much-anticipated tradition aimed at easing travel for motorists.
From 10:00 PM on 24 December to 6:00 AM on 25 December and again from 10:00 PM on 31 December to 6:00 AM on 1 January 2025, toll fees on the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) will be completely waived.
“This is our way of saying thank you to everyone who uses the expressways we operate. It’s something we look forward to every year because it helps thousands of motorists get home to their families a little easier,” said SMC chairman Ramon S. Ang.
To ensure smooth holiday travel, SMC Infrastructure has rolled out additional safety measures. Starting 20 December patrollers and security personnel will be stationed at critical areas, while emergency response teams will be on high alert. Traffic monitoring centers will operate 24/7, and ongoing roadworks will be suspended through 3 January 2025, to minimize congestion. Tow trucks and emergency vehicles will be pre-positioned along key routes to address incidents quickly.
“We appeal to our motorists for patience as we anticipate heavy traffic, especially around Metro Manila,” SMC advised, encouraging drivers to plan their trips ahead, allot extra travel time, and ensure their Autosweep RFID accounts have sufficient load.
For those not yet registered, SMC is urging motorists to sign up for the Autosweep RFID, which is free of charge and offers a faster, more convenient toll experience. To avoid delays, drivers are also reminded to ensure proper tailgating distance at toll plazas and check their vehicles’ roadworthiness before traveling.
For any road emergencies, motorists can contact designated hotlines for immediate assistance across SMC’s expressways.
