ACMobility has acquired Evro, the country’s first brand-agnostic roaming electric vehicle (EV) charging network, originally developed by Globe’s 917Ventures. This move strengthens ACMobility’s commitment to advancing sustainable transport and addressing key challenges in EV adoption, such as the availability and accessibility of charging stations.
Vince Yamat, managing director of 917Ventures, emphasized the intention behind Evro’s development: “We built Evro to simplify the charging experience for Filipino EV owners, and its integration into ACMobility will ensure it continues to evolve and contribute to a greener future.”
Evro, which consolidates multiple charge-point operators (CPOs) across the country into a single mobile platform, aims to alleviate “range anxiety” by making charging stations more accessible. Its app, which is the only one recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE), enables users to locate charging stations, monitor charging progress remotely, and pay seamlessly through GCash or credit cards.
Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, CEO of ACMobility, welcomed Evro into the company’s ecosystem, stating, “Evro is a game-changer for electric vehicle adoption in the Philippines. It empowers EV owners to take control of their charging experience and alleviates key barriers to EV usage.”
The app currently lists 33 live charging locations across key areas such as Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt, and Ayala Center Cebu, with plans for further expansion. As the EV market in the Philippines grows, with sales expected to rise 10 percent year-on-year, the integration of Evro with ACMobility is poised to accelerate the country’s push toward a more sustainable transportation future.
As of now, the Evro app is free to download on both Google Play and the Apple Store, offering Filipino EV users greater ease and convenience in managing their charging needs.
