JAL cyberattack causes flight disruptions nationwide

Japan Airlines (JAL) confirmed Thursday morning that its systems had been targeted by a cyberattack, leading to significant delays in both domestic and international flights across airports nationwide, the Japan Times reported.

The airline identified the source of the disruption—a malfunctioning router—at 8:56 a.m. and temporarily shut it down. By early afternoon, ticket sales for both domestic and international flights were resumed, with services largely returning to normal by 2 p.m. JAL has since worked to restore operations after the brief technical setback.
