Philippine aviation receives major boost with P12.4B modernization plan for 2025

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced a significant investment of P12.4 billion to modernize the country’s aviation infrastructure, with P10.6 billion dedicated to civil works and P1.8 billion for equipment and systems upgrades in 2025.

The investment aims to strengthen the country’s position in global aviation, addressing rising air traffic demand while prioritizing safety and efficiency. The upgrades will include crucial night-rating improvements for Cauayan, Dipolog, and Pagadian airports, enabling safe night operations to keep pace with the growing demand for air travel.

Additionally, the CAAP’s modernization efforts will see the opening of Bukidnon Airport to general aviation by the first quarter of 2025, providing a much-needed link for local travel and trade in the region.

Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, CAAP director general, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safety, saying, “Our focus is to make Philippine skies safer. We want to prevent accidents and incidents as much as possible.”

These upgrades are expected to significantly enhance tourism, trade, and overall passenger experience, supporting economic growth through improved connectivity across the Philippines. The ongoing efforts are set to provide a smoother, more efficient travel experience for millions of travelers in the years to come.
