Aboitiz Foods is making a meaningful impact in the lives of Filipino families. Through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative—Pilmico Livelihood Kits—the company is helping communities across the Philippines build sustainable livelihoods, improve income, and enhance resilience.
“We are excited to scale these initiatives across the region wherever they can make a meaningful impact, empowering families and fostering thriving communities,” said Tristan Aboitiz, President and CEO of Aboitiz Foods.
This commitment to community development has been at the heart of Aboitiz Foods’ mission since 2017, when the company launched its collaboration with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to assist Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs).
The Pilmico Livelihood Kits are designed to support Filipino families in agriculture and small-scale entrepreneurship. These kits range from bakery packages to poultry and livestock sets, offering beneficiaries the necessary tools and training to establish or grow their businesses. The bakery kits, for example, include essential equipment like ovens, racks, and flour, while poultry kits come with ready-to-lay hens and animal health products. Additionally, the livestock kits provide high-quality breed gilts, complete with necessary feeds and support materials.
These resources are complemented by technical training in areas such as farm management, biosecurity, and small business strategies, ensuring that recipients not only have the tools but the knowledge to succeed. By equipping families with both tangible resources and critical skills, the program is enabling them to diversify their incomes and improve their long-term economic stability.
Since its inception, the program has reached over 1,093 beneficiaries across the country, positively impacting lives in rural and underserved communities. The tangible effects are clear: more families are gaining access to sustainable income, making them more resilient to economic fluctuations.
Aboitiz Foods’ efforts extend beyond these direct initiatives. In a significant expansion of its support, the company has partnered with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. – Microfinance (RAFI-MFI), an organization focused on empowering micro-entrepreneurs in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. This collaboration takes the Pilmico Livelihood Kits program a step further, offering RAFI-MFI clients additional resources such as livelihood kits, business development support, and access to capital.
The partnership has already benefited 28 micro-entrepreneurs, providing them with resources like gilts, egg machines, and bakery packages. By focusing on underserved areas, the collaboration underscores Aboitiz Foods’ dedication to fostering inclusive development and supporting local entrepreneurs.
Through these impactful CSR initiatives, Aboitiz Foods is not just providing resources but also building stronger, more sustainable communities. “We’ve empowered families to increase their income through Pilmico Livelihood Kits,” Aboitiz added. “These partnerships demonstrate our belief in creating sustainable opportunities, and we are excited to see the growth and success of these communities.”
As Aboitiz Foods continues to scale its efforts, it remains focused on creating meaningful, lasting change—helping Filipino families take control of their futures, one livelihood kit at a time.
