    Land Bank launches ASCEND program

The Land Bank of the Philippines has launched its Agri-Fishery Support thru Capability Enhancement for Nationwide Development (ASCEND) Program, aimed at providing annual support to at least 10,000 small farmers, fishers, and agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) nationwide.

This initiative, which begins this year, seeks to empower local agricultural producers by offering comprehensive training and resources that address their specific needs, thereby promoting long-term growth and profitability in agri-businesses. According to Land Bank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz, the program is designed to enhance stakeholders’ skills while fostering sustainable agricultural practices, aligning with the bank’s broader mission of advancing economic growth through accessible financial assistance and strategic support.

The ASCEND Program includes six integrated components, such as technical training, financial literacy, stakeholder mapping, and market linkages. It will also provide personalized training through various modes, including in-person, virtual, and hands-on learning opportunities. Additionally, the program features a robust monitoring and evaluation system to ensure continuous improvement and tangible outcomes for its beneficiaries.

Land Bank’s nationwide presence, with branches across all 82 provinces, positions it as a critical player in promoting inclusive growth within the Philippine agricultural sector.
