In the fourth quarter of 2024, the seasonally adjusted value of production in agriculture and fisheries posted a quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.6 percent. This was due to the increase in the value of crops, livestock, and poultry production.
Year-on-year, however, the value of agriculture and fisheries output in the fourth quarter was down 3.7 percent, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority.
Crops posted a quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024. Palay was the top contributor to the quarter-on-quarter growth
For livestock, the seasonally adjusted value of production recorded a quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.7 percent. Hog was the major contributor to the quarter-on-quarter increase. Carabao and dairy also posted increases.
For poultry, the quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted value of production grew by 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024. All poultry commodities contributed to the increase.
The deseasonalized value of fisheries production registered a quarter-on-quarter decline of 0.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024. The major contributors to the decline were skipjack (gulyasan), yellowfin tuna (tambakol/bariles), and seaweed.
