Megawide, MGI partner for Cavite BRT System

Megawide Construction Corp. and Maplecrest Group, Inc. (MGI), through their joint venture Cavite Rapid Transport, Inc. (CRTI), officially signed the contract for the Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) System Project on27  January, a significant milestone in public transport infrastructure in the region.

The agreement, signed in partnership with the Provincial Government of Cavite, paves the way for the development of a state-of-the-art bus rapid transit (BRT) system aimed at alleviating traffic congestion and improving mobility across Cavite.

The CBRT project, estimated at P1.87 billion, is a Private-Public Partnership under a 30-year build-operate-transfer agreement. Initially, the system will serve around 10,000 passengers daily, with a target to increase ridership five-fold within three years, depending on regional progress. The system will span 29 kilometers and is designed to be expandable to accommodate up to 80,000 passengers.

Divided into two phases, the first phase will feature three terminals and 27 stations, covering key cities such as Kawit, Imus, General Trias, and Tanza. Phase 2 will include a terminal and 20 stations, linking to Trece Martires and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX). Construction of Phase 1 will begin this quarter, with operations expected by the third quarter, while the entire project is set for completion by 2028.

“This project is an essential step toward providing world-class infrastructure for Filipinos,” said Megawide chief executive officer Edgar Saavedra. The project aims to enhance Cavite’s connectivity to Metro Manila, stimulate local economic growth, and ultimately improve the quality of life for Caviteños, aligning with Megawide’s broader vision of driving innovation in the Philippines’ infrastructure sector.

MGI chairman Guillermo Choa said the integration of the CBRT with Lancaster New City’s spine road, a key development by MGI’s subsidiary Profriends. This will further enhance mobility and connectivity, benefiting local communities and contributing to the province’s long-term economic development.
