Mactan-Cebu Intl Airport boosts performance, gears for growth in 2025

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), managed by Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corp., is gearing up for higher growth in 2025, building on a series of operational and sustainability milestones achieved in 2024.

With a 13 percent increase in passenger traffic, reaching over 11.3 million travelers, MCIA solidified its position as one of the Philippines’ busiest and most efficient airports.

MCIA focused last year on enhancing passenger experience through strategic partnerships, including a significant collaboration with Cebu Pacific to improve operational efficiency. Additionally, the airport expanded its global connectivity by welcoming United Airlines in July, offering new routes to travelers. The introduction of Cebu Connect further streamlined air-to-air connectivity, enhancing the seamless travel experience for passengers.

February 2025 saw MCIA extend its service reach with Cebu+, a new initiative that integrates airport and seaport travel, enabling smoother access to key Cebu destinations via a partnership with Mactan Wharf Corporation and Supercat Fast Ferry Corporation.

MCIA’s commitment to inclusivity earned it the prestigious Level 1 Accessibility Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI), acknowledging its facilities for passengers with disabilities. As it sets sights on the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, MCIA’s efforts also included the Abiba Sugbo campaign to secure recognition for the best airport staff.

Aboitiz InfraCapital is poised to further expand its airport venture with the upcoming takeovers of Laguindingan International Airport and Bohol-Panglao International Airport in 2025.
