Aboitiz Foods, through its subsidiary Pilmico Animal Nutrition Corp., partnered with the Philippine Army’s 3rd Mechanized Infantry Battalion to support a community outreach initiative in Sitio Tangan-Tangan, San Jose, Tarlac. This remote mountain village faces significant challenges in accessing basic services such as food, healthcare, and education.
Residents of Sitio Tangan-Tangan must navigate a difficult journey to access resources, with army trucks taking over two hours to reach the area, crossing 13 rivers. For civilians, the journey often takes three to four hours by motorcycle, and during rainy seasons, it becomes a perilous trek on foot.
Aboitiz Foods donated in February 215 trays of eggs during a gift-giving and feeding event organized by the Philippine Army. The activity also featured a livelihood project aimed at helping the community become more self-sufficient. Aboitiz Foods’ CSR Specialist, Pinky Baroman, expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of sustainable livelihoods in rural communities.
“We fully support the government and the Philippine Army in their efforts to uplift these communities. With the right support, sustainable livelihoods can truly transform disadvantaged areas,” Baroman said.
Since 2024, Aboitiz Foods, through Pilmico, has distributed 1,929 livelihood kits to over 1,093 beneficiaries across various communities in collaboration with government agencies and private sectors, aligning with its mission to “Sustainably Feed Asia’s growth from mill to meal.”
