Basic Energy Corp. has secured a certificate of authority from the Department of Energy (DOE) for the 43 MW Cadiz 1 solar power project in Negros Occidental, marking a significant step in its renewable energy expansion. The 30-hectare project will now move forward with securing necessary permits and initiating procurement activities for a 25-year contract.
The certification also allows Basic Energy to conduct a system impact study with the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, ensuring smooth integration with the national grid. This development builds on a similar certification the company received earlier for the Mariveles solar project in Bataan.
In addition to its solar initiatives, Basic Energy’s joint venture with Japan’s Renova Inc., is also developing a wind power facility in Batangas. The company plans to raise P4.5 billion for the project, with Renova leading the fundraising.
These efforts reflect Basic Energy’s ongoing commitment to renewable energy, which will have long-term benefits for consumers by contributing to a more sustainable and diversified energy mix in the Philippines.
