Globe Telecom widens regional presence with new joint venture

Globe Telecom Inc. has entered into a joint venture with NCS Pte Ltd. to enhance its subsidiary Yondu Inc. and establish it as a leading technology player in the Asia-Pacific region. The partnership, which involves NCSI Holdings Pte Ltd. (NCSI), will see Yondu acquiring NCSI Philippines and transforming it into a fully-owned subsidiary.

Under the agreement, NCS will hold a 51 percent stake in both Yondu and NCSI Philippines, while Globe retains 49 percent ownership. The joint venture is valued at P1.868 billion, reflecting the growing importance of technological services in the region.

This aligns with Globe’s goal of enhancing its ICT capabilities and expanding its global reach. NCS, a major Pan-APAC technology services provider, brings expertise in digital, cloud, data, and AI solutions. The collaboration is expected to broaden Yondu’s capabilities and clientele, especially in the telco and adjacent sectors, while offering international clients tailored digital solutions with a faster time to market.

Ernest L. Cu, president and CEO of Globe, highlighted the importance of technology in driving business transformation, saying, “Information Technology is the bedrock on which industries are built on. Our vision for Yondu is to be a force for good through effective IT products and services.” He also said partnering with NCS would open up global opportunities for Yondu, enabling it to deliver impactful IT solutions worldwide.

The joint venture is expected to significantly boost NCS’s expansion in the APAC region, particularly in AI-led solutions, while providing greater value to global clients through an expanded Global Delivery Network. Ng Kuo Pin, CEO of NCS, noted that the partnership will drive business transformation and innovation, particularly in the telecommunications sector, benefiting clients with access to cutting-edge digital and cloud services.

This collaboration underscores the increasing commercialization and globalization of technology services in the APAC region, positioning Yondu and its partners for significant growth and impact in the fast-evolving tech landscape. The deal is still subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
