Aboitiz Foods subsidiary Pilmico Foods Corp. has renewed its partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to enhance the skills of local bakers and trainers, reinforcing its commitment to the growth of the Philippine baking industry.
Under the new pact, the collaboration updates the training curricula to meet market demand, improve trainer skills using industry techniques, and expand access to upskilling opportunities through webinars and programs. This effort is designed to create sustainable employment opportunities and foster industry growth.
“We focus on training and skills development because, with just a little help, people can thrive,” said William Paradies, first vice president and country director for food and nutrition at Aboitiz Foods.
The partnership, which began in 2018 with the creation of the Wooden Spoon Business Innovation Center for Baking and Pastry in Taguig City, has already produced 572 graduates with TESDA’s Bread and Pastry Production National Certificate Level II. The center offers modern tools, expert guidance, and entrepreneurial platforms for aspiring bakers. During the pandemic, the initiative evolved with digital webinars, broadening its reach across the country.
Aboitiz Foods is a leading player in the Philippine food sector and part of a regional conglomerate with operations in eight countries. The company also operates one of Asia’s largest feed mills, with an annual capacity of 4.2 million metric tons by the end of 2024.
