Berde Renewables expands solar partnership with Holcim Philippines

Berde Renewables Inc. has significantly expanded its partnership with Holcim Philippines, aiming to boost renewable energy capacity at the company’s facilities in Davao City and Lugait, Misamis Oriental. In a joint statement, the parties announced that Berde Renewables will design, construct, and manage additional solar facilities at new Holcim sites, increasing the total capacity to 12.79 megawatts (MW).

The new installations are projected to generate about 21,263 megawatt hours of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 14,000 metric tons per year. This follows the successful collaboration in 2023, where Berde Renewables helped install solar rooftop projects at Holcim plants in Bulacan and La Union, with a combined capacity of 5.5 MW.

Berde Renewables CEO, Patrick Zhu, expressed pride in the expanded partnership, citing it as a testament to the company’s proven track record. Holcim Philippines CEO, Nicolas George, emphasized that the partnership is key to reducing environmental impact and supporting the Philippines’ renewable energy transition. Holcim aims to source all of its power from renewable energy by 2030.

Holcim, a leading construction materials provider, has already made strides in sustainability, reducing its carbon footprint by over 20 percent since 2018. Meanwhile, Berde Renewables, a subsidiary of iSquared Capital, continues to focus on developing distributed renewable energy projects for commercial and industrial clients, contributing to both cost savings and emissions reductions.
