NexGen secures green lane certification for wind farm projects

NexGen Energy Corp.subsidiary Airstream Renewable Corp., has secured Green Lane certification from the Board of Investments (BOI) for its proposed wind farms in Real and Mauban, Quezon Province, a key milestone in the company’s push to advance renewable energy projects in the Philippines. Such certification streamlines the regulatory process, enabling faster implementation of the wind projects valued up to P300 billion.

NexGen’s wind portfolio includes the 200MW Pandan Labayat, 2,000MW Real Offshore, 300MW Silang Maragondon, and 300MW Mauban offshore projects. Airstream Renewable has already conducted technical, environmental, and social studies, including wind resource assessments, ahead of the certifications.

Eric Peter Roxas, NexGen CEO, emphasized the significance of the Green Lane certifications, not only as a catalyst for the company’s energy ambitions but also as a driver in addressing critical national issues, including environmental sustainability, electricity pricing, and energy supply sufficiency.

The Green Lane certification program, launched by the Philippine government, is designed to encourage strategic investments with substantial capital, economic impact, and environmental benefits. As of April 2025, the BOI has certified 158 renewable energy projects, aggregating P4.75 trillion, with foreign investments contributing nearly 30 percent of the total.

Roxas noted that the certifications signal the government’s confidence in Airstream Renewables contribution to sustainable national development. Moving forward, the company’s focus will be on accelerating the commercial operations of its wind farms to ensure long-term financial growth and increased shareholder value.
