NAIA boots up for Holy Week rush with intensified operations

In anticipation of over 1.18 million passengers during Holy Week, the NEW NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) has intensified preparations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in coordination with government agencies and airline partners. The projected passenger count from 13 to 20  April marks a 14.23 percent increase from last year’s 1.04 million, with flight movements also rising from 6,537 to 6,724. The busiest travel day is expected on Good Friday, 18 April, with 851 flights.

Working with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), MIAA, PNP-AVSEGROUP, CAAP, BI, BOC, and BOQ, NNIC has activated full-scale measures to manage the surge. This includes 24/7 assistance desks, added traffic aides, and enhanced Wi-Fi. Improvements also drew on the NNIC’s first six months of upgrades—new passenger boarding bridges, better baggage and security systems, and expanded parking and transport facilities.

NNIC egneral manager Angelito Alvarez emphasized the collective effort to ensure safe and smooth operations, urging passengers to arrive early, check flight and terminal info, and expect longer queues. “This is a team effort… We ask for the public’s patience and cooperation,” Alvarez said.
