NLEX Corp. announced that the new Lingunan Southbound Entry ramp to the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is set to open this month, well ahead of schedule, marking a step toward easing traffic congestion in northern Valenzuela.
Originally planned for completion in five months, the 491-meter-long one-lane ramp was completed in just four months instead of five. NLEX officer-in-charge and Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) CFO Luis Reñon said the early completion was a reflection of the team’s commitment to improving traffic conditions swiftly and efficiently.
“This development is expected to provide relief to the barangays of Lawang Bato, Lingunan, Punturin, Canumay East, and Canumay West,” said Reñon during the inaugural drive-thru ceremony, which was also attended by Valenzuela City mayor Wes Gatchalian and Toll Regulatory Board regulation division chief Joz Carlos Ordillano.
The ramp, a joint project of NLEX Corp. and the City Government of Valenzuela with TRB support, is designed to decongest the frequently crowded Valenzuela/Paso de Blas Interchange and improve the overall flow of vehicles across the city. It marks Valenzuela’s fifth access point to NLEX, alongside Karuhatan, Mindanao Ave, Paso de Blas, and Lawang Bato.
Reñon emphasized the broader benefits of the infrastructure improvement: “We hope to provide ease for all motorists and aid businesses in facilitating faster movement of goods and services,” noting the city’s growing role as an industrial and commercial hub.
Standard NLEX traffic management protocols were followed during construction to ensure motorist safety and minimize disruption.
