    T-bill rates rise at auction

Lingering global uncertainty continued to drive average rates on shorter-dated treasury bills at the auction Monday.

Demand remained strong at three times the offered volume of P25 billion, with total bids reaching P73.9 billion, almost equal to the tenders of P74.5 billion reached last week.

Yield on the 91-day rose to 5.546 percent from last week’s 5.422 percent while that on the 182-day bill climbed to 5.675 percent from 5.657 percent.

On the 364-day treasury bill, the average rate eased to 5.691 percent from 5.722 percent as the central bank still expects to ease monetary policy moving forward after trimming benchmark rate by 25 basis points to 5.5 percent earlier this month.
