NLEX Corp. net income jumps 21% on strong toll revenue, cost discipline

NLEX Corp. on Monday reported a 21 percent rise in net income to ₱12.07 billion in 2024, up from ₱10.01 billion the previous year, driven by increased toll revenue and disciplined cost management, the company announced.

The toll road operator, which manages the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), said revenue climbed 18 percent to ₱25.31 billion. The growth was attributed to increased traffic volumes and the implementation of long-delayed toll rate adjustments. Toll revenue contributions were led by NLEX (78 percent), followed by SCTEX (18 percent) and the NLEX Connector (4 percent).

“This performance underscores the critical role our expressways play in supporting regional connectivity and economic activity across Luzon,” the company said in a statement.

Additional income from toll service facilities also grew 35 percent to ₱150 million. While the company saw a 12 percent rise in service costs to ₱8.42 billion, it attributed this to higher concession and PNCC fees, maintenance work, and increased amortization expenses tied to elevated traffic levels.

NLEX Corp. operates about 105 kilometers (598 lane-kilometers) of expressways, serving an average of over 350,000 vehicles daily as of end-2024. SCTEX spans 91 kilometers (362 lane-kilometers), connecting key economic zones in Subic and Clark to Central Luzon.

The continued financial strength of NLEX Corp. reinforces its position as a core infrastructure player in the Philippines’ transport sector, with its expressways serving as vital arteries for commerce and mobility across northern and central Luzon.
