The Republic of Slovenia officially inaugurated its first embassy in Southeast Asia at RCBC Plaza, a premier business address in Metro Manila, signaling a significant diplomatic and economic milestone in its relations with the Philippines and the broader region.
The embassy, which has been operational since February this year, formally opened on 11 March during the visit of Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, H.E. Tanja Fajon. It marks a new chapter in Slovenia’s efforts to deepen bilateral ties, expand cultural exchange, and facilitate labor mobility.
Choosing RCBC Plaza as the embassy’s location was a strategic decision. “We are honored to be chosen as the home for the Republic of Slovenia’s first embassy in Southeast Asia,” said Marjorie Abot, general manager of RCBC Realty Corp.
Currently home to eight embassies and four foreign missions, RCBC Plaza stands out for its LEED Gold certification, 100 percent renewable energy sourcing, and upgraded safety and business continuity systems — qualities that align with Slovenia’s long-term diplomatic goals. The Slovenian Embassy has secured a 10-year lease, underscoring its commitment to a sustained presence in the Philippines.
The embassy is expected to provide a full range of consular services, including visa processing, assistance to Slovenian nationals, and support for Filipino workers pursuing employment in Slovenia. It will also serve as a focal point for bilateral cooperation across business, culture, science, and sports.
The embassy’s establishment not only highlights Slovenia’s growing footprint in Southeast Asia but also reflects the increasing importance of the Philippines as a strategic partner in the region.
