The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has inaugurated its new Baguio branch office, marking a significant investment in infrastructure and digital service delivery for over 40,000 members and pensioners in the Cordillera region.
The opening, led by GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso, coincides with the state pension fund’s 88th anniversary and the national observance of Ease of Doing Business Month. The facility, located on a 3,132-sqm lot within the Philippine National Railways Compound on Governor Pack Road, replaces the branch’s previously rented, multi-floor location that had limited operational efficiency.
“This is a declaration of commitment to our members who have dedicated their lives to public service,” Veloso said during the ceremony, emphasizing the GSIS’s intent to “build a legacy of service.”
The new two-story, 1,400-sqm building includes a members’ lounge, in-house clinic, dedicated client rooms, and parking, all designed to streamline transactions. Notably, it houses a Digital and Ease of Doing Business Center equipped with tablets, a move aligned with GSIS’s broader digitalization strategy.
Veloso also highlighted plans to integrate artificial intelligence into their systems to enhance responsiveness and service speed, reinforcing the agency’s push to modernize government services.
Baguio City Rep. Mark Go and Mayor Benjamin Magalong attended the event, voicing support for GSIS’s initiatives to elevate service standards for public sector workers and retirees.
