Reed Elsevier Shared Services (Philippines) Inc., the business process outsourcing arm of UK-based RELX plc, has reaffirmed its Iloilo operations as a strategic hub for its global services, citing significant growth in tech talent and evolving service capabilities over its 10-year presence in the city.
Initially launched in 2015 with 400 staff, the Iloilo site now employs nearly 1,500 professionals, making it one of the region’s top employers. The company has expanded its scope beyond editorial and publishing services into tech operations, risk solutions, customer support, and marketing—underscoring its transition into a technology-focused business services center.
“Our ten years in Iloilo represent a significant milestone for RELX | Reed Elsevier,” said Kat Ledesma, Iloilo site lead. “The talent and dedication of our Iloilo team have been instrumental to our office’s growth.”
Iloilo was selected as RELX’s second Philippine location—after its Manila site in UP Technohub—due to the city’s skilled workforce, reliable infrastructure at Iloilo Business Park, and the support of local government.
The firm’s pioneering investment has contributed to the development of Iloilo as a recognized BPO and tech hub. “Their decade-long investment has strengthened our local economy and developed the skills of many Ilonggos,” said Lea Lara, director of the Iloilo MICE Center.
Beyond commercial operations, the company has sustained community partnerships, notably with the Friends of Cancer Kids Iloilo Foundation Inc., providing fundraising support for families undergoing pediatric cancer treatment.
