Delbros boosts coastal resilience with solar and storage donations in Palawan

The Delbros Group has expanded its sustainability and community support efforts by donating solar-powered lights and portable cold storage units to key agencies and fishing communities in Palawan. The donation—formally turned over to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), Coast Guard District Palawan (CGDPAL), and fishermen from Kalayaan—is part of Delbros’ nationwide program to deliver renewable energy infrastructure to remote and coastal areas.

The ceremony, held at the PCSD Building in Puerto Princesa City, was attended by government officials and community leaders. Frank Earl Fabellar, representing Kalayaan mayor Roberto Del Mundo, praised Delbros and PCSD for their leadership, stating, “We hope these will create a positive impact on the livelihoods in the West Philippine Sea, that in turn, have a positive impact on our country.”

Delbros president and CEO Jose Paolo L. Delgado emphasized the company’s mission to uplift communities through sustainable technologies. “By providing solar-powered lighting and efficient cold storage, we are not only supporting livelihoods but also promoting sustainability in Palawan’s coastal regions,” Delgado said.

The distribution includes 115 solar lights for Kalayaan fishermen, 20 for CGDPAL, and an additional set of solar lights and a freezer for PCSD. These tools aim to improve safety at sea, extend fishing hours, and reduce post-harvest losses, enhancing both productivity and income.

PCSD executive director Teodoro Jose Matta and CGDPAL Commander Commo. Dennis Rem Labay acknowledged the strategic importance of integrating renewable energy into local operations. “This initiative by Delbros is a perfect example of the power of collaboration in fostering sustainability and resilience in Palawan,” said Matta.

Fisherman Roberto Asiado and PCG officer ASW Miykee Madronio also highlighted how the donations support both livelihoods and maritime safety. “These lights do not only provide light to the people here, but also to the country and nation as a whole,” Madronio noted.

The event concluded with the ceremonial signing of the deed of donation, reinforcing Delbros’ long-term commitment to community-focused, technology-driven sustainability initiatives.
