SM Prime expands EV charging network

SM Prime Holdings Inc., one of Southeast Asia’s largest integrated property developers, is accelerating its push toward sustainable mobility, having installed 131 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across its nationwide portfolio as of the first quarter.

At least 50 more are slated for rollout this year, reinforcing the company’s commitment to clean transport and green infrastructure.

The EV charging facilities are strategically placed across SM Prime’s malls and office developments, with future installations planned in residential communities and leisure estates. This initiative supports the broader adoption of low-emission transport across the company’s integrated developments.

As an accredited Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) Provider-Operator under the Department of Energy (DOE), SM Prime ensures its stations meet national standards for safety and performance, positioning the company as a major enabler of the Philippines’ EV transition.

“Integrating sustainable practices into our operations is a core part of SM Prime’s long-term strategy,” said SM Prime President Jeffrey C. Lim. “Through this initiative, we are also supporting the government’s vision for an inclusive and future-ready EV ecosystem.”

The DOE’s EV roadmap targets a 25 percent EV share of the passenger vehicle market by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040. It also calls for an expansive charging infrastructure to be deployed nationwide.

With its broad footprint and sustained investment in green technologies, SM Prime is helping reshape the country’s transport sector and urban landscape—aligning business growth with climate resilience and environmental responsibility.
