House Deputy Speaker David “Jay-Jay” Suarez confirmed Saturday that Speaker Martin Romualdez enjoys the backing of over 240 lawmakers—securing a supermajority in the coming 20th Congress.
“This is already a supermajority,” Suarez said, noting a manifesto of support signed by members from all major political blocs.
Suarez called it a strong vote of confidence in Romualdez’s leadership, citing his calm yet decisive style, timely budgets, and strong alignment with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
With support still growing, Suarez said: “Any leadership challenge is unrealistic. The House wants stability—and the Speaker delivers.”
