AirAsia Philippines on Wednesday reported carrying nearly 3 million passengers across its domestic and international routes thus far this year, buoyed by a robust 85 percent load factor. The airline tagged Puerto Princesa and Taipei as its top-performing destinations in the domestic and international segments, respectively.
First officer Steve Dailisan, head of communications and corporate affairs, attributed the strong performance—driven largely by domestic travelers making up 80 percent of the load—to a resurgence in local tourism. “This strong performance signals positive growth for local tourism,” Dailisan said, emphasizing the airline’s role in promoting cultural travel through initiatives such as the AirAsia Fiesta Series and festival-linked campaigns.
In a bid to capitalize on growing international demand, AirAsia has expanded frequencies on key routes: daily flights now serve Kota Kinabalu, while service to Taipei will increase to 17 times weekly starting 1 July this year.
Commercially, the airline is reinforcing its market position with aggressive promotions, including over 400,000 discounted seats launched for off-peak travel. One-way base fares start as low as P185 to major leisure hubs like Boracay, Bohol, and Puerto Princesa, valid for travel between May and October 2025.
The developments reflect AirAsia’s strategic push to enhance both corporate performance and regional connectivity, aiming to serve the growing leisure and business travel sectors in the Philippines and beyond.
