Philippine Airlines Inc. (PAL) is preparing for a major fleet upgrade with the scheduled delivery of nine Airbus A350-1000 long-range aircraft, starting this year. The first unit is expected to arrive by year-end, the flag carrier announced.
The initiative is part of PAL’s broader strategy to boost its global competitiveness by expanding nonstop routes and forming new airline partnerships, thereby enhancing connectivity to international markets.
During its annual stockholders’ meeting, the company also confirmed the appointments of Richard Nuttall as president and Carlos Luis Fernandez as executive vice president and COO.
“Our strong financial results and network expansion have strengthened PAL’s footing for future growth,” said Lucio C. Tan III, president of PAL Holdings Inc. He added that the company is also reconfiguring its existing A321 cabins to enhance passenger comfort, including new seats, upgraded in-flight entertainment, and improved Wi-Fi.
Tan emphasized the importance of cost management and adaptability as the airline moves forward, stating, “PAL remains committed to connecting people, empowering its workforce, and advancing sustainability.”
