Converge ICT Solutions Inc. reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive digitalization and corporate social responsibility (CSR) by delivering a comprehensive training session on basic online protection and livelihood opportunities to disenfranchised mothers and children in Bamban, Tarlac. This initiative was conducted in partnership with Clark Development Corporation (CDC) under its Pagsasarili Program.
Only recently held, the program trained 30 beneficiaries—primarily mothers—on how to identify and avoid digital scams such as phishing, job scams, and fraudulent online offers. The session, led by Scam Watch Pilipinas Co-Founder Jocel de Guzman, emphasized the importance of critical thinking in digital interactions. This was especially relevant for low-income communities vulnerable to scams due to economic hardship.
In tandem, livelihood support was introduced through Converge’s Surf2Sawa, a prepaid fiber internet product. Participants were shown how to earn supplemental income by reselling this service, a practical move that supports financial resilience at the household level.
“Ang programa natin ngayon ay para sa mga nanay…na gusto naming turuan paano protektahan sarili nila online,” said Jennifer Ambanta-Realubit, community relations manager at Converge, underlining the company’s intention to align digital literacy efforts with the needs of marginalized women.
Beyond the workshop, Converge continues its long-term CSR initiatives with CDC, providing support such as connectivity and educational tablets to the Aeta community and conducting regular health outreach programs. These efforts highlight Converge’s role not only as a tech enabler but as a proactive stakeholder in uplifting underprivileged sectors.
