DPWH launches real-time infra oversight app

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is streamlining infrastructure oversight with its new Fortified Operations and Maintenance Geospatial Survey (OMGS) mobile application—an innovation hailed for its policy impact on public infrastructure management.

Developed as a capstone project under the Public Management Development Program (PMDP) of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), the OMGS app is spearheaded by Engr. Glenn S. Degal, Project Operation and Maintenance Management Division chief at the DPWH’s Public-Private Partnership Service.

Replacing the historically manual and fragmented inspection process, OMGS allows field inspectors to collect geotagged data, generate automated reports, and coordinate seamlessly with stakeholders—all in real time via mobile devices. The app boosts operational transparency and accelerates issue resolution, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to modernize public service delivery.

DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan emphasized that the app symbolizes the agency’s shift toward data-driven governance and smarter infrastructure maintenance. With OMGS, the DPWH strengthens institutional accountability and sets a new standard for tech-enabled public infrastructure oversight in the Philippines.
