P200 wage hike bill already transmitted to Senate, House bicam team ready

THE House of Representatives has already transmitted the P200 daily minimum wage hike bill to the Senate and has designated its bicameral conference panel, signaling full readiness to finalize the measure, according to House spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante.

“Na-transmit na siya sa Senado kahapon at meron na ring naipasa na mga pangalan para maging representante ng Kamara para sa bicameral conference,” said Abante, adding that the names of the Senate conferees to the bicameral conference committee have yet to be transmitted to the House of Representatives.

House is prepared to stand by its version of the bill.

“Patuloy po na maninindigan ang Kamara na ang House version ang mas makakabuti para sa ating mamamayan,” she said.

House Bill (HB) No. 11376 – also known as the “Wage Hike for Minimum Wage Workers Act” – was passed on third and final reading in the House with an overwhelming vote of 171 in favor, one against and no abstentions.

The bill mandates an across‑the‑board increase of P200 per day for minimum wage earners in the private sector.

Abante also clarified that the House respects the deliberative process of both chambers in reconciling differences in the final version of the wage hike proposal.

“Nirerespeto natin naman kung ano ‘yung magiging pagdedebate at magiging pag-uusap ng dalawang pulong tungkol sa magiging final na version para sa measure na ito,” she said.

She emphasized the urgency of the measure, saying that workers deserve fair compensation that should not be delayed any further.

“Pero ito dapat ‘yung masisiguro natin, yung sahod na patas na hindi dapat ipagpapaliban para sa ating mamamayan,” Abante said.
