    MRT-7 now 83% complete for 2027 launch

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon expressed strong optimism that the long-delayed Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) will be fully operational for passengers by 2027, aligning with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to fast-track infrastructure projects. The completion is expected to bring substantial relief to commuters and transform urban mobility in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Dizon said the 22-kilometer rail line from North Avenue in Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan—now 83.08 percent complete—will significantly ease congestion, particularly along Commonwealth Avenue, and shorten daily travel times. “They will no longer have to wake up early in the morning, and the traffic that will be reduced in the Commonwealth is huge,” he noted.

The transport chief emphasized that the Common Station, which will link MRT-7 with MRT-3 and LRT-1, must also be completed on schedule to ensure seamless connectivity across the metro rail network. “When MRT-7 is completed, the connection… will be very easy,” Dizon said.

Backed by San Miguel Corp., the MRT-7 has been cited by Dizon as a model for future railway developments, praising its wide trains, spacious and PWD-friendly stations, and modern infrastructure. Once operational, it is expected to serve up to 600,000 passengers daily.

Dizon framed the project as a reflection of the administration’s broader transport policy—focused on efficient, commuter-friendly mass transit that supports Filipino families.
