NGCP eyes smart, green grid in 25-year plan

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is consulting key energy stakeholders nationwide as it finalizes the 2025–2050 Transmission Development Plan (TDP), a roadmap critical to shaping the country’s power infrastructure. In a recent series of consultations held across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, NGCP emphasized the importance of aligning its long-term grid expansion with national energy goals and increasing demand.

NGCP president and CEO Anthony Almeda highlighted the TDP’s role in integrating renewable energy and smart grid technologies, saying, “Stakeholder collaboration is crucial to ensure our plans are responsive, inclusive, and forward-looking.” The ongoing consultations also involve coordination with major government bodies such as the Department of Energy and the Energy Regulatory Commission, underscoring the plan’s national significance.

The initiative aims to ensure that future transmission developments not only meet the country’s growing power needs but also support consumer welfare through a more reliable and sustainable energy system.
