Megaworld taps Accor in landmark hospitality tie-up

Property giant Megaworld Corp. has appointed global hospitality leader Accor as a co-property manager for select hotel and resort assets, marking a significant move in its expansion strategy in the tourism sector.

The partnership kicks off with the rebranding of Belmont Hotel Mactan into Mercure Mactan Cebu, the first franchise transition under the collaboration. Located in the 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, the move integrates the property into Accor’s international portfolio, which includes over 40 hospitality brands such as Sofitel, Fairmont, Pullman, and Mövenpick.

“Mercure Mactan Cebu will not only enhance Mactan Newtown as a prime destination but also drive tourism and economic activity in the area,” said Cleofe Albiso, managing director of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts. She said that Accor’s global standards in guest experience and booking systems will uplift the group’s local hospitality offerings.

Megaworld currently operates 13 hotels across major destinations including Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay, with a total of 7,000 rooms under brands such as Richmonde, Belmont, Savoy, and Kingsford. The group aims to expand to 20 operational hotels and 9,000 rooms within three years, with new projects underway in Palawan, Pampanga, Bacolod, and Iloilo.

The Accor deal signals a strategic effort by Megaworld to elevate its hospitality portfolio through globally recognized standards while reinforcing its leadership in Philippine property development.
