Leading Philippine mobile wallet GCash has expanded its partnership with international remittance provider SendWave, further strengthening its cross-border money transfer capabilities for overseas Filipinos and enhancing its role in the global remittance ecosystem.
The expanded collaboration introduces key upgrades in 2025, including faster and more secure digital remittances, new international cash-in options, and broader geographic reach. Filipino users abroad can now send money directly to any GCash account via a Philippine mobile number (+63), allowing families back home to instantly access much-needed funds.
“This partnership between SendWave and GCash gives OFWs the ability to send fast, secure, and hassle-free remittances to their families in the Philippines,” said Paul Albano, general manager for GCash International. “It strengthens connections between Filipinos abroad and their loved ones, ensuring their financial needs are met efficiently.”
The partnership also unlocks new capabilities for GCash Overseas users, who can now fund their wallets using SendWave via mobile numbers from the U.S., U.K., and Canada. This added functionality significantly broadens financial inclusion, allowing more Filipinos working abroad to access digital financial services regardless of location.
SendWave has built a strong footprint in key remittance corridors, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, and Germany—markets that represent some of the largest sources of overseas Filipino remittances.
On the domestic front, GCash continues to bolster financial accessibility with over 339,000 cash-in and cash-out outlets nationwide. Within the app, users can manage savings, invest, and track finances, positioning GCash as a comprehensive platform for personal financial management.
“For us in GCash, it’s not just about transferring money; it’s about providing a comprehensive financial ecosystem that meets the evolving needs of Filipinos, wherever they are,” Albano added.
As global fintech reshapes how people manage and move money, GCash and SendWave’s strengthened partnership positions both companies as key players in bridging overseas workers with their families through reliable, tech-enabled remittance solutions.
