WoWFi rollout fuels DITO’s broadband push

DITO Telecommunity Corp. is aiming to hit 2 million high-speed wireless broadband subscribers by 2026 on the back of the commercial rollout of its new fixed wireless access (FWA) service, DITO Home WoWFi. This underscores the company’s ambition to expand digital inclusion through next-generation connectivity.

DITO president and CEO Eric Alberto announced the target during a press briefing on Tuesday, highlighting a sharp rise in FWA subscribers to 250,000—up from 37,000 in June 2023. “Our ultimate ambition is to elevate the Philippines’ digital infrastructure and competitiveness to First World standards,” Alberto said.

WoWFi, powered by DITO’s full 5G Standalone (SA) network, offers up to 100 Mbps with unlimited data and a 50GB high-speed allocation. The plug-and-play solution requires no installation, making it ideal for areas underserved by fiber.

Alberto emphasized wireless as a strategic alternative to traditional wired connectivity, citing frequent service disruptions, limited reach, and high costs associated with fiber lines. “Wireless is how we bridge the digital divide for every Filipino home,” he said.

According to Adel Tamano, DITO’s chief revenue officer, only 8 to 9 million of the country’s 24 million households have broadband access. “DITO WoWFi is our answer,” Tamano noted. “Fast, reliable, and affordable—it’s a game-changer for the Filipino household.”

The launch of WoWFi marks a significant step in DITO’s broader mission to expand digital access and strengthen its position in the highly competitive Philippine telecom market.
