Grab PH donates e-bikes in support of active transport push

Grab Philippines has partnered with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and donated pedal-assist bicycles and helmets to 20 individuals as part of the agency’s Active Transport Program, underscoring a joint commitment to sustainable mobility and road safety.

The donation, coursed through the DOTr’s Active Transport Project Management Office, is a highlight of the “Ride to Thrive: Bike Giveaway for Mobility” campaign, where members of the cycling community nominated deserving recipients.

DOTr undersecretary Mark Steven C. Pastor emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring road safety and pledged continued support for cyclists through infrastructure and policy. “We will continue to do projects like this to further strengthen and encourage our cyclists,” Pastor said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has also reiterated the government’s priority to elevate cycling and walking in the road user hierarchy, backing infrastructure like safe walkways and protected bike lanes to promote healthier and more sustainable travel options.

This initiative not only empowers individuals with greater mobility but also enhances public awareness on active transport and the safety of vulnerable road users—a significant step aligning private sector support with national transport goals.
