Potato Corner expands to Taiwan, Laos by year-end

Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. is set to introduce its Potato Corner brand in Taiwan and Laos by year-end. The move underscores the company’s commitment to scale its iconic snack brand in new high-growth markets.

President and CEO Vicente L. Gregorio confirmed that franchise agreements have already been signed for both countries, calling them “exciting markets with potential to scale.”

Chairman Christopher T. Po highlighted the group’s aggressive expansion, targeting 400 store openings this year, mostly under the Potato Corner banner. Around 100 outlets have already launched in the first half of 2025.

International expansion remains a key pillar for the group, which includes the Shakey’s, Potato Corner, and Peri-Peri brands. Po said the overseas business, now contributing 20 percent of total operations, is growing faster than domestic, though the company is pursuing this growth “organically.”

Despite a modest 6 percent increase in 1Q net income to P182.06 million, Shakey’s is maintaining its double-digit growth target for 2025, banking on a traditionally strong fourth quarter to drive performance.
