Driver’s license renewal now online via e-Gov PH

The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO), launched the online driver’s license renewal through the e-Gov PH app today, Thursday.

“This is now available starting today. It’s a big thing for Filipinos, including OFWs who can renew even from abroad,” said Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon at the press briefing. The initiative is part of a broader government push to simplify frontline transactions and improve accessibility for the motoring public.

“This marks a significant shift. For decades, government processes have been tedious for ordinary Filipinos. This is just the start,” Dizon said, noting similar plans to digitize new as well as renewal motor vehicle registration applications down the line.

DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy affirmed the President’s directive for the agency to roll out new features on the e-Gov app weekly, in coordination with other agencies including TESDA, CHED, BIR, and PhilHealth.

The policy underscores the Marcos administration’s commitment to streamline public service through digital transformation, particularly in sectors like transportation that directly impact millions of daily users.

Separately, the LTO suspended the licenses of six motorists involved in illegal street racing in Tagaytay, an incident that recently went viral. Dizon emphasized the administration’s zero tolerance for reckless driving, citing President Marcos’ directive to ensure road safety for all. Social media users were urged to report violations to the DOTr or LTO.
