Megaworld expands Chinatown mall with new wing

Megaworld Corp. is pushing forward with its commercial expansion strategy through the Imperial Wing of Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila—an important addition that reinforces the developer’s role in revitalizing one of the capital’s historic business districts.

The Imperial Wing adds three floors of new retail space, increasing the mall’s gross leasable area to 36,000 square meters. This expansion responds to growing demand for premium commercial spaces in the area and supports broader urban development goals in one of the country’s densest economic zones.

“This expansion reflects our commitment to enhancing the lifestyle and commercial experience in Manila’s Chinatown,” said Graham Coates, head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

New tenants include Japanese home brand Nitori, lifestyle retailer KKV, and a newly opened Robinsons Supermarket. Dining options also expanded with the entry of Mixue and other regional F&B names, further diversifying the retail mix.

The project underscores the growing role of private sector developers in shaping urban policy outcomes through mixed-use developments that support tourism, heritage, and local economic activity.
