Smart reallocates resources to accelerate 5G rollout nationwide

Smart Communications, Inc., the wireless subsidiary of PLDT Inc., is intensifying its 5G deployment across the country, reallocating network resources from its legacy 3G infrastructure to bolster 5G capacity where demand is highest.

This strategic shift, while gradual, underscores Smart’s commitment to delivering faster, more reliable mobile connectivity and aligning investments with evolving consumer needs and national digital priorities.

“By focusing our efforts on strengthening our 5G footprint, we’re empowering more Filipinos with superior mobile connectivity,” said PLDT and Smart CTO Menardo G. Jimenez Jr.

Smart COO Anastacio R. Martirez emphasized the corporate and national value of these investments, stating, “Our continued investments in 5G align perfectly with the government’s push to boost digital competitiveness and drive inclusive nation-building.”

Following the December launch of ‘5G Max’ in Taguig City, which introduced enhanced speeds and reduced latency, Smart is preparing to expand the premium 5G experience to the Visayas and other strategic regions.

To support adoption, Smart and TNT are actively encouraging customers to upgrade to 5G-ready SIMs and devices through free upgrades and flexible installment plans available in stores and online.

The company’s network modernization efforts reflect a long-term vision to enable broader participation in the digital economy, ensuring Smart remains at the forefront of digital innovation and infrastructure development in the Philippines.
