Fourth GEA iteration draws 230+ bids for 10,653 MW in renewable projects

A total of 142 renewable energy (RE) companies have qualified under the fourth iteration of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Green Energy Auction (GEA4), submitting over 230 project bids targeting 10,653 MW of capacity.

The big corporate participants include Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. with 27 bids, Joy-Nostalg Solaris Inc. with nine, and SMC Global Light and Power Corp. with eight. Alabel Solar Energy Corp. and Envision Philippines Power Corp. followed with seven bids each. These firms collectively account for around 25 percent of all qualified bids, highlighting strong commercial interest in securing fixed-rate RE contracts.

GEA4 covers solar (ground-mounted, rooftop, floating), onshore wind, and solar-plus-battery storage projects scheduled for deployment between 2026 and 2029. The auction offers incentivized tariffs based on reserve prices set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), which range from ₱4.48/kWh to ₱6.52/kWh depending on technology.

A pre-bid conference is set for 28 July, with auction and award processes concluding by October 2025.
