Taguig’s SEED project to link subway, railways in education complex

The Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the United Kingdom Embassy, has launched a new integrated transit hub within the 13-hectare DepEd Complex in Taguig City. Dubbed the Senate DepEd Transit Oriented Development (SEED) Project, the initiative will seamlessly connect with the Metro Manila Subway and the North-South Commuter Railway, and help ease daily commutes, particularly for students.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon described the project as a national model, highlighting its broader impact on both transport and education policy. “This project will pave the way for better initiatives in the future—not only transportation projects but also education projects,” Dizon said during the project signing with Education Secretary Sonny Angara and British Ambassador Laure Beaufils.

The SEED Project also envisions an “Education City” promoting green design, public transport use, walking, and cycling—reflecting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve commuter experience.

Angara underscored the project’s potential to be a transformative force in the country’s infrastructure landscape. “This project will have a catalytic effect not only on Taguig but definitely Philippine transportation,” he said.

The initiative marks a milestone in inter-agency and international collaboration, seen as essential for future national development efforts.
