Vantage Energy, the retail electricity supply (RES) arm of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has signed a power supply agreement with Bohol Quality Corp. (BQC) to provide electricity to its flagship BQ Mall in Tagbilaran City.
Announced Monday, the deal marks Vantage Energy’s first foray into Bohol and signals the expansion of its RES portfolio in the Visayas region. While financial and supply details were not disclosed, the agreement is expected to ensure reliable and cost-effective power delivery tailored to BQC’s operational needs.
“This energy partnership ensures tradition and exceptional service with improved reliability and sustainability,” said BQC president Raymund Ong. “It’s a step toward modernizing our facility’s energy infrastructure.”
The partnership aligns with Vantage Energy’s goal of advancing sustainability and energy innovation, according to its president Ernesto Cabral. “We are creating a platform for meaningful impact not only for our companies but also for the communities we serve,” he said.
Under current regulations, only customers with a peak demand of at least 500 kW over the past year may contract power supply directly from RES providers, allowing greater flexibility in negotiating rates and service terms.
Founded in 1945, BQC remains a cornerstone of Bohol’s retail sector, and the agreement is seen as a significant commercial collaboration aimed at supporting long-term growth and energy resilience.
