New LTO system promises plates in 3 days

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) have unveiled the Plate Registration Management Information System (PRMIS), a digital platform designed to streamline and speed up the issuance of vehicle registration documents and license plates. The system promises motorists receipt of their official receipt/certificate of registration (OR/CR) and license plates within three days—dramatically reducing the wait time from months or even years.

Transportation secretary Vince Dizon emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader digitalization push under President Bongbong Marcos’ administration aimed at delivering faster, more convenient public service. “You can get your license plates in a maximum of three days,” Dizon assured motorists, highlighting the end of the long-standing delays.

DOTr and LTO are also coordinating with car dealerships to enable same-day plate releases, with plans to implement the program nationwide. Dizon further noted the government’s resolution of the 11-year motorcycle plate backlog, with 5.4 million plates now ready for nationwide distribution.
